The town's only professional boxer will be in the main event at the St Leonards Social Club, St Leonards Avenue, on March 13.

Hunt has carried the town's hopes on his shoulders since making his debut in May 2006 with a one-round demolition of Ian Clyde.

Since then he has vanquished the likes of Baz Carey, Peter Buckley and Carl Allen.

His record stands at 12-0 after defeating Allen over the distance at the Aston Villa Events Centre last Friday night.

Now Hunt plans to make it number 13 on Friday the 13th, in front of what will likely be a 300-strong white hot home crowd.

He said: "I can't wait for the big night, it has been too long since we had a boxing show in this town and I am proud to be in the main event. I have made no secret of the fact that I am from Stafford and I want to continue to fly the flag.

"This show is a thank you to them for all the support they have shown me since I started my career."

It is a big year for Hunt after four prosperous wins in 2008, now the light-welterweight wants to up the ante and take on all comers.

The 23-year-old has had his eyes on a title for a while, with the new year earmarked for finally breaking through.

With 'First Team' stablemate Dean Harrison on the cusp of a British title shot, there is no time to waste for Hunt.

He said: "I want to step up my level of competition. I have had the journeymen and the game men, now it is time to take on the real fish. I am in great shape, I want to put on a real good show in my hometown and then look toward a title.

"If I can win a Midland or British Masters title this year and show Stafford what I can do on March 13, I will be very happy with my work."
