Mutley unfazed by the champion

The Black Country's own Young Mutley returns to the ring tomorrow night with a warning for British champion Kell Brook - "You don't scare me."

Mutley watched at home last Friday night on Sky Sports as Brook destroyed his 'First Team' stablemate Stuart Elwell inside two rounds at York Hall in Bethnal Green.

The West Bromwich welterweight now faces a test of his own, when he takes on Latvian Gatis Skuja at the Aston Villa Events Centre.

It is the former British champion's first bout since last July, when he beat another Latvian in Sergejs Savrinovics at Wolverhampton Civic Hall.

Mutley was forced to pull out of a British title eliminator against John O'Donnell in December with flu, a fight that must still take place.

If the 32-year-old can win that, he is set for a collision course with reigning title holder Brook to get back the belt.

He said: "I have sparred with Kell Brook before, so I know what to expect. He may have demolished him, but I think Stuart will admit that he got his game plan wrong for the fight and he was a little slow starting off, which you can't be against a fighter as sharp as Kell.

"It would be a different prospect with me, I know how to tackle him and it would be one hell of a fight. That is what I see ahead of me and watching him beat Stuart hasn't scared me in the slightest.

"I want to regain the British title and to do that I must beat Kell."

Mutley has endured a frustrating few months, now he just wants to fight.

Fully fit and having had a long time to prepare, he aims to be going full throttle at the Villa.

He said: "I aim to take my frustrations out on my opponent. has been a trying time for me, having had to pull out of my eliminator with flu having trained so hard.

"This is a fight to get me back into the swing of things, before my fight to determine who will face the British champion.

"I want to put on a real show and remind everybody what I am all about at the Aston Villa Events Centre."
