'The Wednesfield Bomber' stopped Baz Carey in round seven, after an awesome brawl that left little to the imagination, lifting his first title in the process.

The roof nearly came off the pro-Saville Civic when the deciding blow was made.

He set out about his opponent with such velocity that even the rock-hard Carey could not answer, and, with that, Saville is Midland lightweight champion.

He said: "It was unbelievable, the crowd at the Civic. The adrenalin alone carried me through. It was a war, as I knew it would be.

"Baz was a hell of an opponent and I was glad I stopped him. This victory is for all the people in my life."

Wolverhampton's Dean Harrison also tasted glory, after besting Chris Long after the eighth round to lift the British Masters welterweight title.

He picked off his opponent by working the body throughout and Long could take no more, conceding defeat and failing to come out for the ninth round with a shoulder injury.

He said: "Chris was tough durable guy but I was too much for him. This is the start of something big for me."
