The Saddlers' faithful chanted Mullen's name during the 2-1 win over Carlisle on Saturday as they claimed their third successive victory on Saturday.

It proved fans are warming to the manager after he has guided them to sixth in the League One table but Mullen isn't about to get carried away.

"I am not a young man anymore and I am an experienced manager," he said.

"I just want to see my team do the right things, play the right football and for the crowd to enjoy it. If they want to chant my name, great, but I also know there are times down the road where they might be chanting my name for the wrong reasons."

Mullen was delighted with the atmosphere generated by the 4,830 fans and says it made for the perfect day.

He said: "The crowd were fantastic and I love it for the players and the club. When they are chanting for the players and the manager it means we are doing something right.

"It is a good environment to play football in and long may it continue. The way the team played meant they earned the right to win the game."

The success at the Banks's represented a return to home form after two consecutive away wins and Mullen said the Saddlers needed to prove themselves in front of their home support.
