Roman BednarStriker Roman Bednar will begin a three-year contract at Albion before the end of May, his agent confirmed today.

But Bednar is still in talks with the Baggies as he tries to secure an improved deal for the Premier League. Agent Eliot Van Til admitted what Albion have always maintained – that their pre-contract agreements with both Bednar and current club Hearts over a permanent deal are binding.

However, Van Til revealed the Baggies have already offered to improve Bednar's terms and the one-cap Czech Republic international is still hoping for another improved offer.

Van Til said: "The permanent transfer has not happened yet but we expect Albion to be in touch with Hearts soon.

"A price was agreed last summer between the clubs so now it is just a case of Albion formally taking up that option, which I am sure they will do before the date that was in the contract."

Albion must inform Hearts by May 31 if they want to take up their option to sign Bednar for a pre-agreed fee of around £2.5m.

And Baggies officials have repeatedly indicated that they intend to do so.

Van Til, meanwhile, has admitted that Bednar is bound to a three-year contract he agreed last summer when he moved on loan from Tynecastle.

But he is hoping to secure improved terms and Albion have already indicated their willingness to meet him halfway.

Van Til said: "There is a contract that was agreed last summer and is still in place but we're hoping we can agree something new.

"Roman was told that if he did well there was a chance of an improved offer so, coming off the back of the season he has had, that's what we're hoping for.

"There is a new offer on the table from Albion that Roman is not entirely happy with but discussions still taking place and hopefully something can be sorted out." Bednar's 1contract is one of several important pieces of paperwork to be tied up with Luke Moore's and Kim Do-Heon's loans set to become permanent and Michal Danek's loan likely to be extended.
