Ban for Wolves fan after trouble

A Wolves fan spotted throwing objects at rival supporters after a match earlier this year has been barred from attending games for three years.

Michael Duffy, of Ann Crescent, in Cannock, is one of a number of fans to be handed a banning order in the wake of the championship clash with Stoke at Molineux earlier this year.

The 33-year-old appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court yesterday were he admitted a public order offence following the match on February 9 which Wolves lost 4-2.

Ms Jayne Yeomans, prosecuting, told the court: "It was around 4.50pm on Jack Hayward Way when there was a large post match disturbance which occurred when groups of Wolves supporters confronted Stoke City supporters."

The court heard missiles were thrown between both groups. A police officer saw Duffy throw a number of objects towards Stoke fans.

Duffy, who represented himself, told magistrates he accepted what the prosecution had said.

As well as the banning order magistrates ordered him to pay a £100 fine and £60 costs plus a victim surcharge of £15.

Last month six men were stopped from attending matches for three years for their part in the trouble.
