Andeep is on the ball

A Liverpool fan has shown he is on the ball by winning the manager of the month prize in the Express & Star's Fantasy Football game.

Andeep Chima, 22, of Farndale Avenue, Whitmore Reans, received a cheque for £100, courtesy of game sponsor Wickes, after topping the table in March by two points.

His team Twisted Delight, amassed 104 points during the month, beating more than 4,200 rivals to top spot.

His team of Premier League stars is: B Fridel (Blackburn), P Evra (Man Utd), S Distin (Portsmouth), J Lescott (Everton), M Richards (Man City), S Gerrard (Liverpool), J Jenas (Tottenham), C Ronaldo (Man Utd), C Fabregas (Arsenal), R Keane (Tottenham), F Torres (Liverpool)

Andeep, who works as a sales executive for Homeserve in Walsall, puts his recent success down to one man, Liverpool striker Fernando Torres.

"He has been awesome," he says. "He got a couple of hat-tricks which boosted my points for the month. Torres has been a brilliant buy."

Andeep signed up to play the game when it was launched in August.

He says: "Some of my friends signed up so I thought I would have a go. I'm delighted to take the prize as I've never won anything like this before."

The Liverpool fan said he had put his allegiances aside to pick some of his team.

"I still put a couple of Man United players in there. I tried to go for players who are committed, stay fit and give their best."

Andeep follows Wolves among the local teams, hence his decision to pick former Molineux favourite Joleon Lescott, now of Everton.

"I think Wolves will get promotion this season," he predicts. "I think they can do it."

Andeep plans to put the prize money towards his summer plans.

"I am looking to go away so this will be very helpful," he said.
