The Molineux men have been without an Academy director since Chris Evans left to become number two to Bolton boss Gary Megson in November. The recruitment process has been a slow and painstaking one.

But Moxey is adamant that the club will not be rushed into a decision on what he believes is a "vital" position.

"Hopefully we're moving closer to the point of making an appointment.

"We are hoping to make an announcement in the very near future," Moxey said.

"Wolves' Academy is an important part of the club's infrastructure and requires the right candidate to come in and take over.

"We're determined to get that man and if that means taking a bit of time to make the decision then so be it.

"We've had lots of interest and there have been some excellent candidates who we've spoken to but every Academy is different and we need to get the right man to take Wolves Academy forward."

Moxey has dismissed any suggestions that the Academy is suffering while the wait for a new man continues.

"The Academy is doing well at the moment and continues to operate well," he said.

"Obviously we'd like to have a permanent man in place.

"But we have got no real concerns that they are missing out on anything because the position of Academy director is vacant," he added.

"It is not like the position of first team manager, it is a position that requires different skills and it may need more time to find the right candidate."

Meanwhile, Wolves' Birmingham Senior Cup semi-final clash with Blues was called off due to a water-logged pitch last night.

New signing George Elokobi had been due to play along with skipper Gary Breen in a strong reserve side.
