Willenhall's giant centre-half Lucan Spittle and Coalville striker Jermaine Gordon have signed to plug the gaps left by the departed Vaughan Thomas and Kyle Perry.

Manager Charlie Blakemore was desperate for reinforcements with young defender Sam Smith out for the season with damaged cruciate knee ligaments.

Spittle can make his debut in tomorrow's trip to Romulus, while Gordon will have to wait two weeks as he is serving a five-match ban.

Blakemore is also chasing one more player to ensure the Scholars stay in contention.

He said: "I know Lucan from old and he's strong, dominant character.

"With our other new defensive signings, Andy Penny and Todd Perry, they have tremendous presence, both physically and vocally which we haven't had before.

"They have all got leadership qualities and with Joe Williams and Kevin Thompson, I've got options.

"Jermaine is a big striker who I tried to sign in the summer and he's as strong as an ox."

Midfielder Nick Hawkins has a foot injury, so Scott Clamp and Dave Woodvine stand by.

Chasetown are eight unbeaten in the league but seeking to end an awful run at Romulus's home of Sutton Coldfield.

"Sutton seems to be our bogey ground," admitted Blakemore.
