Albion will face a swift reunion with former boss Bryan Robson when the season gets underway.

The Baggies will face Robson's Sheffield United side at Bramall Lane in their third game of the campaign on Saturday, August 25.

Robson was appointed Blades boss in succession to Neil Warnock last month after spending seven months out of the game after parting company with the Baggies last September.

The former England captain will return to The Hawthorns for the first time since leaving Albion on Tuesday, February 12.

The trip to face the Blades follows back-to-back games with Lancashire opposition to kick-off the season.

The Baggies will travel to Burnley on the opening day of the campaign, with the wounds of their dramatic 3-2 defeat at Turf Moor in the closing weeks of last season still raw.

It is the sixth time in the last seven seasons that Albion have launched their campaign on the road.

Paul Simpson's Preston will be the Baggies' first opponents at The Hawthorns the following weekend on Saturday, August 18.

Tony Mowbray's men will tackle newly promoted Bristol City and Scunthorpe in back-to-back away games in September, travelling to Ashton Gate on September 18 and Glanford Park four days later.

The first Black Country derby with Wolves is pencilled in for The Hawthorns November 24, and is followed up immediately by a long midweek trip to Plymouth.

Albion are scheduled to travel to Molineux on March 8.

The Christmas programme is a little kinder to Albion in terms of travelling, with a trip to Stoke on December 22 followed by back-to-back-home games with Bristol City and Scunthorpe.

But for the second year running the Baggies face a long journey on New Year's Day, with Ipswich this coming season's destination 12 months after visiting Southend.

There is the prospect of a weekend in Blackpool for Baggies' fans in April, with Albion due to visit the League One play-off winners at Bloomfield Road on April 5.
