Kate, of Bliss Gate, Rock, near Bewdley, died when she was struck by a car in May 2005 while trying to retrieve her scarf which had blown into the road.

Yesterday dozens of pupils joined Kate's mother Caroline and step-father Andrew Thomas at the school to see the result of all their hard work.

Pupils, staff, trustee Richard Walker and members of the local community have worked tirelessly for the last 18 months to create the £5,000 garden. The club's Wolves Aid community charity fund also donated £2,000.

The courtyard used 16 tonnes of stone chips and features two circular benches around conifer trees to allow pupils to sit and remember Kate.

There was a special plaque installed at the foot of one tree with an inscription dedicated to Kate underneath a Wolves emblem.

Mrs Freeman said: "Kate would have been very pleased with the garden, it's absolutely brilliant.

"It was a great team effort by the school, community and football club and we can't thank them for their hard work.

"The inscription on the plaque which reads 'seize the moment' says it all about Kate. Everyone has grabbed the opportunity to create a fantastic tribute to Kate which will be used by the school for many years."
