The striker will join the relegation-haunted Yorkshire club for a month after slipping down the pecking order at Wolves.

He goes straight into the squad for the game against QPR tomorrow night - but will not be able to play against Wolves when Leeds visit Molineux on Saturday.

Boss Mick McCarthy said the American forward, who has scored three goals during a topsy-turvy Molinuex spell, needs games to revive his faltering season."It's a good opportunity for Jemal," said the boss. "His opportunities have been reduced here with Andy Keogh and Stephen Ward playing so well and he needs to play some football."

The move could spell the end of Johnson's short Wolves career. With Jay Bothroyd and Craig Davies ahead of him in McCarthy's firstteam plans, the forward is likely to be put up for sale at the end of the season.

Johnson has scored three times in 24 games for McCarthy's men - but hasn't started since the visit of Leicester on December 9.

Key winger Michael Kightly is the major injury doubt for the trip to Portman Road. Kightly limped off during the win over Burnley with a hip injury and McCarthy said he would leave a decision to the last minute.

"Kights has a sore hip. I'll wait and see tomorrow - we don't want to risk him getting a bang on it," McCarthy said.

"I think he's just a bit concerned that if he doesn't train today I won't pick him but that's nonsense."

McCarthy also dismissed weekend reports linking him with a move for former Barnsley midfielder Colin Healey.
