It comes after allegations made this week after images from a mobile phone camera were released.
The club made the decision as it prepared for the FA Cup clash at Molineux.
Albion said in a statement: "Goalkeeper Russell Hoult has been suspended by West Bromwich Albion pending further inquiries by the club into newspaper articles this week."Hoult and his wife Donna, also 34, who have twins, declined to comment on the claims today.
The goalkeeper has been enjoying a first-team revival under manager Tony Mowbray.
But his future at Albion is now in doubt and his place is likely to be taken on Sunday by Swiss international keeper Pascal Zuberbuhler.
Today's suspension is the latest chapter in a roller-coaster Albion career that had already taken Hoult from the brink of the England squad to the Baggies reserves.
He arrived at The Hawthorns in a £450,000 deal from Portsmouth in 2001, helping the club stave off relegation before making himself a favourite with the fans thanks to his performances in two promotion campaigns.
The first promotion under Gary Megson saw Hoult claim the Albion club record for most clean sheets in a season, and he also played a large part as Megson led the Baggies to the top flight for a second time.
His performances in the Premiership as Albion struggled as a team also earned him attention and he was tipped as a potential England squad player.
He never received the call but it was confirmed he was watched several times by scouts working for the FA.
