The 26-year-old joins on loan from Edinburgh with Wolves asset Ronnie Correy heading in the other direction, also on loan.

It's an emotional signing for Wolves promoter Chris Van Straaten whose late Dutch father, Dirk, first introduced him to the sport.

Pijper landed a surprise third place in the prestigious Banks's Olympique in October, but had already been on the Monmore radar.

"We haven't signed him just because he had a good Olympique," said Van Straaten.

"We've been monitoring him for some time. He's impressed us with his attitude and ambition; he has got enough motor-cycle experience to know what it's all about."

Van Straaten also hinted that the move could become a long-term one should Pijper make a successful jump to Elite League racing.

"We've just swapped for one season and we'll see what happens at the end of it," he said. "If it goes well we could make him a permanent addition."

Pijper is up for the challenge - and readily agreed to move down from Scotland with his wife and baby son Ace John (correct) to be nearer Wolverhampton.

"I've been five years at Edinburgh in the Premier League. I just want to go for a change," he said.

"I like Wolverhampton and I'll try to step up and see if it works."

Pijper, of course, is swapping one track prepared by Alan "Doc" Bridgett for another.

"It's similar to Armadale," he said. "Doc Bridgett is doing the track at Wolverhampton as well and he is the best guy.

"He said it was a different track to me because I was riding the outside instead of the inside!"

The Parrys International Wolves team for 2007 is beginning to take shape.

Pijper is expected to slot in at reserve following the signings of heat leader Billy Hamill and second string David Howe.

Talks are continuing with Peter Karlsson and Freddie Lindgren while Wolves also want William Lawson to have a second season doubling up at reserve.
