Robbo: Peace row caused split

Bryan Robson today revealed the breakdown of his relationship with Albion chairman Jeremy Peace forced him out of The Hawthorns. The former Baggies boss insisted he did little wrong during his time at the club and said it was the cooling of relations with Peace that led to his departure.

A statement from the club said his exit was down to results since January and insisted he had left by mutual consent. But his comments today throw a different light on events.

"This time around I didn't make much of a mistake, we had a good squad of players at West Brom and we were only a few games into the season," he said.

"We knew there was better to come, I don't think I did much wrong in that job.

"It was more to do with a personality clash between me and the chairman and in the end he decided we needed to part company.

"It was a case where the relationship between myself and the chairman wasn't as good as it could have been when we were working together.

"That did have a lot of bearing on it because we were only a few points off the top."

Robson was shown the door after just eight games of the season and with Albion sitting five points off top spot. But, with expectations riding high at The Hawthorns, that start was seen as unacceptable.

He insisted injuries to key players were a big problem during the final weeks of his reign.

"We had bad injuries to top players. Curtis Davies and Diomansy Kamara both suffered a broken foot," he said. "But at the weekend Kamara showed he will be a big player in the Championship because of his sheer pace and ability.

"He scored two goals in his first game back and he'll be a big player for West Brom. I still think they've got a good enough squad and that they'll get promoted."

The former Middlesbrough boss is eager to be a boss again.

"I'm getting nice offers from the usual people like TV programmes and Manchester United, but I would like to get straight back into the game," he said.

"I would like to stay in this country but if an interesting offer came from abroad I would have no problems with moving."
