Competitors of all ages took part, many of whom arrived in pristine white clothing worthy of Wimbledon. Thankfully, a lot of participants also had the good foresight to bring goggles.

Even before the run commenced, there was a 'mass splatter' during the warm-up and by the end of the day most people resembled Pink Panther tributes.

Lisa Carson, events fundraiser for Katharine House, said: "Thank you to everyone who came to the Splatter Dash we hope you had a fab time.

"Thanks also to our army of volunteers who gave up their time to be with us and to all of our suppliers Stafford Radio Traction, Stan Robinson, Eileen our fab caterer, RRT, Raynet and to Stafford Common landowners for allowing us to use and abuse their land.

"Thanks also to Castle Estates our event sponsor." She added: "It's by no means a race, there are no prizes for first place, or second or third for that matter. It's not about who's fittest, it's all about having fun. It's all about getting together with family, friends, colleagues, having a laugh and supporting Katharine House.

"Splatter Dash is also a great way to entertain the kids during the summer holidays."

Katharine House Hospice began in 1989 originally as a 'hospice at home' service but now provides a range of care at the hospice on Weston Road and in the community. It costs £2.7 million a year to run the charity with three quarters of that generated by local fundraisers and businesses.

There are more fundraising events coming up in the near future including a 5k and 10k run at Shugborough Estate on October 4. Contact the Katharine House fundraising team on 01785 270808 to find out more about getting involved.
