Birmingham's Wild Boys Duran Duran were given a warm welcome home when they returned to the city where it all began more than 30 years ago.

The 80s pop pin-ups had the crowd at the LG Arena on their feet from their opening number and that's where they stayed all night.

Last night's concert was a re-scheduled date after the original gig in May was cancelled due to singer Simon Le Bon suffering throat problems.

But the 53-year-old frontman was on fine form for the homecoming concert much to the delight of the packed audience.

The band, which formed in Birmingham in 1978, performed more than 20 songs spanning three decades during a two-hour set.

Classic hits such as Planet Earth, Rio, Hungry Like the Wolf and Wild Boys provided a trip down memory lane, while new material from their latest album All You Need is Now showed they are still a band to be reckoned with.

"It's always great to be back in Birmingham, it feels like home," keyboard player Nick Rhodes told the appreciative crowd, while Simon Le Bon dedicated Ordinary World to the people of the West Midlands.

The foursome of Le Bon, John Taylor, Nick Rhodes and Roger Taylor opened with the subdued ballad Before the Rain from All You Need is Now, before uplifting the tempo with their first single Planet Earth.

They performed more than 20 tracks during the two-hour show.
