Hundreds of shoppers queued outside a new TK Maxx store ahead of its opening in Wednesbury today.
The new store has opened at the Gallagher Retail Park off Junction 9 of the M6, creating 60 jobs.
Retired carer Dilys Moseley, from Holyhead Road in the town, was the first customer in line, an hour before the store's opening at 9am.
The 69-year-old grandmother said: "It's great for the area to have shops on the retail park opening.
"It's great there are new jobs coming and there will be a knock-on effect for other shops in the town."
Mother-of-two Julie Harris agreed it was great that the store was bringing jobs into the area.
The 49-year-old housewife added: "It's lovely it's opening. I would think it will bring more and more customers into the town."
Mother-of-two Julie Finch, of Darlaston Road, Pleck, said: "This area was a bit of a ghost town for ages.
"It only used to have Currys and furniture shops. Now there's more reasons to come down here. There's lots more variety.
"It's going to be great for the area."
The store's owners were handing the first 100 customers goodie bags to make shopping as stress-free as possible.
They included gel insoles for weary shoppers' feet, stress balls to keep other customers calm and tissues.
Store manager Carl Sireno told of how the store's opening had represented months of hard work.
He added: "I'm really looking forward to starting to trade in the town."?
