Wolves' young guns were too much for Chasetown in a seven-goal avalanche.

The home side took a fourth minute lead when academy striker Jake Kempton - a recent signing from Fulham - struck to goalkeeper Ryan Price's right as the visitors mounted a quick counter-attack.

Sam Winnall, Kempton and Danny Batth were all denied before Winnall rifled home the second goal, after 10 minutes, following a superb set-up by forward Hemmings.

Hemmings then missed two chances and Scott Malone rattled the bar from 25 yards before starting the move that saw Andre Landell make it 3-0 in the 24th minute with a hard, low drive after combining with Nathan Rooney.

Kempton and Rooney went close before the latter grabbed the fourth from 25 yards with a shot into the roof of the net on 38 minutes.

Wolves had to wait until the 66th minute for their fifth goal, but it was a peach of an effort from man of the match David Davis, who netted with a classy flick over ex-Molineux academy goalkeeper Richard Woolley after fine work from Rooney and Winnall.

Duncan Swann-Horler's close-range effort, from Matty Cohen's pass, proved the Scholars' consolation in the 74th minute.

But substitute Liam McAlindon restored the five-goal cushion with 10 minutes left when he finished off after a goalmouth scramble.

And the academy scholar made it 7-1, five minutes later, when he converted after a powerful run and cross from right-back Kristian Kostrna.
