Today's incident caused long tailbacks for drivers who were already battling against rush hour traffic at 8.30am.

Inches of water flooded the street and some surrounding roads were sealed off.

Sandwell Council deputy leader Councillor Mahboob Hussain said: "There has been a major water main burst outside number 184 Oldbury Road.

It is likely that the road will be closed for at least two days."
