Hundreds queued from the early hours today to get their hands on V Festival tickets – which were on internet auction site ebay just minutes after their release for nearly double the price.

A line of music lovers snaked its way from the Midland Box Office and around Wolverhampton's Queen Square waiting for tickets to go on sale at 9am. Just minutes later, tickets which normally cost £165 were being sold on ebay for £268.99. Kasabian and Kings of Leon will headline the event at Weston Park, on August 21 and 22.

At the front of the queue were 19-year-old twins Alexandra and Sophie Hanson, who had been there since 1.30am.

Sophie, a student nurse, of Queen Street, in Moxley, said: "It's been freezing but we've had all our blankets and camping stuff with us."

Jack Boden and pal Dan Armitage had been lining up for tickets since 4.30am.

Weekend passes with camping cost £165, or £140 without camping. Day tickets cost £78.50.
