The inauguration meeting was held at the Beehive Pub in Elliotts Road, but it was actually October 1963 when a small group got together first to put the wheels in motion. They met on a regular basis and organised varied activities and events throughout the town. It is now the oldest voluntary community group of its kind in Tipton.

Over the years members have organised a multitude of annual community events, including Tipton Canal and Community Festival.

The group is also involved in local issues and is represented in the Sandwell Road Safety Organisation, Tipton Traders Association, Tipton Civic Society, Brook Street Community Centre and SCVO panel.

The association marks its 50th anniversary in 2014.
