Stop the rant over GB News
Yet another letter from 'name and address supplied' with their usual not wishing to put their name to the embarrassing rant on the on 24 December.
Their contentious argument is that although we all accept the BBC is a left-wing backing 'news' channel and is called out for this, their invidious thinking is that GB News is not. GB News has been permanently under attack and pressure to be closed down by Ofcom from the lefties, unhappy with it's more balanced news reporting. They have tried to force companies to stop advertising on GB News. Think that is the calling out you demand.
Where this person gets it so disastrously wrong with their snooty and scornful view is that Reform are most obviously not extreme or far-right. It is just a right of centre patriotic party with the support from a third of the public.
Their Trumpian sneering needs to be shown for what it is – nonsense. We are forced to pay the BBC to be indoctrinated, but with GB News we have free choice with knowledgeable presenters. Tthat is free speech and democracy own it.

Difference in broadcasters
To 'name and address supplied' (24 Dec) about BBC vs GB news bias. The difference is that the BBC is supported by a legally enforced BBC 'licence fee' on British residents and the proceeds go to the BBC. GB news is a news service that is supported by voluntary donations and advertising.
The BBC wastes our money on blatant DEI policies, which is the reason its content has been sliding downhill in the last 10 years.

Street flags are intimidating
On Christmas Eve I saw two masked men putting flags on every lamppost between Dobbies roundabout and Bayston Hill, using a ladder and a flatbed recovery truck from a company based in Swanscombe – over 180 miles away.
These flags are being installed unlawfully, and the manner in which they are put up creates an intimidating atmosphere.
Across the country, similar displays have coincided with rises in racist incidents. Using national flags in this way risks giving the false impression of widespread support for far‑right views and may embolden those wishing to harass or discriminate. This is completely at odds with the values of tolerance and kindness that most of us hold dear.
I want readers to know these flags are not being put up by local people. Their removal can be requested by contacting National Highways on 0300 123 5000, or Shropshire Council for non‑trunk roads.
