Last week, commuters experienced longer journeys due to the disruption.

The works were scheduled to be completed by Friday (May, 22) - though this appears to have been delayed.

The junction of the Parkfield Road and Birmingham New Road was closed off in one direction on Monday, May 18 with the closure going back as far as Bowen Street and traffic diverted along Parkfield Crescent.

There was also a lane closure on Birmingham New Road up to Dimmock Street, with the closure set around a demolition site at the junction.

Signs set up on both sides said the closures were due to “risk of road collapse”, with an additional sign stating the closures would be in place from May 18 to May 22.
