PICTURE FROM THE PAST: This image has been featured before, but it is worth unearthing again. It shows a 1962 ‘churchwarden’s pipe smoking competition’ in Wall Heath. ‘Women joined in with pipes charged with 3.3 grammes of tobacco and Mrs Patsy Smith, left, kept going for 34 minutes.’

Green bins not value for money

Dudley Council are making money out of residents and must think we are idiots.

We pay £56 a year now to collect our grass cuttings and garden waste yet in the winter months garden waste is next to nothing.

I first started my green waste in April 2025, I then put my last my garden waste in September 2025 and have not use it since then.

I have looked out into the street on the days green waste is to be collected and to be honest I have perhaps seen one green bin placed out.

I have seen the council bin collection wagon go up and down the road and did not stop for any collections.

So it appears to me the good old Dudley residents are paying for a service that is not needed in the winter months.

The council are really getting money for nothing for nearly half a year. But the good old Dudley residents are paying for a full year where a service of grass collecting is not required.
