'As I predicted - those who make "these" decisions are far too focused on making money' - Your Letters and a picture of a historic toll house from 1930, eventually destroyed by a careless driver
Car parking charges, a thank you to all who do their best for town, and the subject of flags again.

Car park impact was obvious
You don't have to be Einstein to have known that car parking charge increases would have left car parks almost empty, as can be seen by the photos on the front page of the Express & Star on October 18. I even had a letter published in July 2024 predicting this very thing.
What we really have to consider is the intelligence of those that truly believed the raising of car parking charges would work and that they really thought that footfall would increase for our town areas. What it shows to me is that we have a bunch of councillors who cannot see the obvious. It’s not just in Dudley, Wolverhampton have the same problem.
What other catastrophes have we to have placed upon us all? Oh I know one at least - the waste food bins yet to arrive, which is going to cost thousands of pounds, if not millions in new equipment, lorries and plastic bins. But that's another story for another time perhaps.
The problem is, those who make these decisions are far too focused on making money by any means before anything, they never see the actual consequences of those increases, they never see how this will affect those that use those services. Furthermore, now that these car parks are empty it will take some time to get people to return and use them, all this and all they had to do is use what most of us have and that is common sense.
