'Football club not to blame for bus route problem on match day' - Your Letters and a trip to the zoo in our Pictures from the Past series

A volunteer at Halesowen Town FC explains the supporters coach also experienced traffic issues on match day and were not to blame - we also take a trip to Dudley Zoo in 1945.

PICTURE FROM THE PAST: A picture taken in Bridgnorth and a VJ Day trip to Dudley Zoo on August 29 1945. The event was mentioned in a round up of local VJ celebrations carried in the Bridgnorth Journal, which also talked of a party under the arches of Bridgnorth Town Hall, held the day after this trip.

Club not involved in bus problem

I’m writing in reference too your recent article about the bus route problem in Old Hawne Lane due to the parking of cars forcing buses to take a different route.

The story implies you quote near Halesowen Town FC suggesting this is the club possibly at fault.

On this particular Saturday Halesowen were away at Royston in Cambridgeshire en route via supporters coach. We too had to divert at the end of Old Hawne Lane due to car parking issue. Supporters on away journeys always park in the club’s car park.

I’m a volunteer at the club and kindly ask that our club be taken as not to blame as implied in your story, as people will automatically assume it's the clubs fault simply because we were used as a focal point of interest.
