WELL DONE ON NEW ICE RINK

It is excellent news to read that plans by Dudley Council to have an ice rink built in Flood Street, are progressing so well. To get to this stage in the process has taken leadership and a visionary approach.

The ice rink will bring people into Dudley and will offer locals the opportunity to encourage children and young people to take up skating which is a brilliant activity developing skills, fitness, health and wellbeing. I hope the people of the Black Country buy into the ice rink and that includes schools which could include ice skating as part of their Physical Education offer - just as they do by taking pupils to the local swimming pool.

Congratulations to all those people who have driven this project forward - not forgetting Leah Court, who I understand campaigned some years ago to have this facility. Bravo.

DISMAY AT THE DEMISE OF CASH

Recently I had a letter published in this newspaper concerning the fact that parking in Bridgnorth is banned if you do not possess a debit card.

A few month's ago I visited a camera fair just on the outskirts of Wolverhampton, at a well known race course, I will not mention the name of the course, but people will instantly deduce where it is.

It was a nice sunny day, and I decided to have a cappuccino, upon entering the bar/restaurant, I was informed we do not accept cash, only cards.

So that was another day ruined.
