£40,000 bus lane cameras on way to West Bromwich

Some £40,000 will be spent on installing and running new enforcement cameras to clock motorists using a town centre bus route.

Councillors hope to have two cameras in place by late summer, in New Street, West Bromwich, outside Sandwell College's Central Sixth campus.

Sandwell councillor Maria Crompton, who oversees roads in the borough, said: "We want to reduce the number of vehicles through there as soon as we can."

Two cameras will be fixed in place at either end of the road section costing around £34,000.

Costs of ongoing maintenance and software will costs for up to five years will be around £6,000.
