The Government encourages people to fit solar panels with a tempting subsidy. An entire industry grows up, factories are acquired, employees taken on.
And then the Government says the subsidy is too generous and cuts it in half. How many firms go bust by Christmas?
This is a grotesque breach of faith between Tory ministers and small businesses.
It's the sort of thing that makes people distrust and despise a political party for generations.
