Two 15-year-old boys have been charged with knife offences after police recovered two large knives in West Bromwich.

West Midlands Police officers were patrolling Hydes Road shortly after 3pm yesterday (November 5) when they were alerted to reports of two people carrying weapons.

Two boys were pursued by officers and detained near Rydding Lane, where a pair of large knives were discovered.

Both teenagers have since been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and remanded to appear before magistrates in Wolverhampton today.

West Midlands Police said officers carry out daily patrols and operations across the region in a bid to remove weapons from the streets and arrest those found carrying them.

The force also stressed the importance of information from members of the public in helping officers identify emerging crime trends and target their patrols.
