Major rail disruption between Wolverhampton and Stafford as all services cancelled due to fallen tree damaging overhead wires
There is major rail disruption between Wolverhampton and Stafford today (Wednesday, March 25) with all services cancelled.
All services are cancelled between Wolverhampton and Stafford today due to a fallen tree that has damaged overhead wires.
The tree fell on the railway between Penkridge and Wolverhampton and has caused significant damage to the overhead electric wires.
As a result, trains will not run between Stafford and Wolverhampton and will instead divert via alternative routes.
Buses are running between Stafford and Wolverhampton to replace train services.

Major disruption is expected until 6am tomorrow morning (Thursday 26 March).
National Rail said: "There is an amended timetable in place to allow a service to continue to run.
"Therefore, your journey may be cancelled or revised to terminate or start at different stations.
"Trains that are scheduled to run from different stations may be delayed."
Listed below are the routes affected.
Avanti West Coast between Edinburgh / Crewe / Wolverhampton and London Euston, and also between Holyhead and Birmingham New Street
CrossCountry between Manchester Piccadilly and Birmingham New Street / Reading / Southampton Central / Bournemouth
London Northwestern Railway between Liverpool Lime Street / Crewe / Shrewsbury / Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street
National Rail warns that trains at Birmingham New Street may also be disrupted due to train crew being caught in disruption.
Rail replacement buses are running between Stafford, Penkridge and Wolverhampton.
National Rail has advised: "If you are travelling from stations between Liverpool Lime Street and Hartford towards the south, you should change at Crewe for services to Stafford where you can take a rail replacement bus to Penkridge and Wolverhampton.
"If you are travelling from Birmingham towards the north, you should travel between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton on West Midlands Railway services where rail replacement buses will depart every 30 minutes.
"You can then change at Stafford for onward travel towards Crewe and Liverpool Lime Street."
