Disruption to West Midlands rail services as severe weather causes damage to overhead lines and fallen tree blocks tracks
Passengers have been warned about disruption to train services in the West Midlands this morning. (Wednesday)
Birmingham New Street posted on X that due to damage to the overhead lines caused by severe weather there is disruption to services.
The post said: "Due to damage to the overhead lines caused by severe weather there is disruption to services today.
"Our engineers are working to fix the problem which will take most of the day on Wednesday. Check your journey at http://nationalrail.co.uk"
The line running through Penkridge is also facing delays due to a fallen tree.
West Midlands Railway posted on X this morning: "A tree blocking the railway at Penkridge.
"Network Rail have confirmed the line will be blocked for morning services.
"This is due to damaged overhead electric wires causing a stranded train.
"Rail replacement and ticket acceptance will remain."
Last night the tree blocking the railway line meant train services between Wolverhampton and Walsall were cancelled.
