Rail lines are closed from Wolverhampton to Birmingham New Street today (Saturday) as engineering work takes place between Sandwell & Dudley and Birmingham New Street - here’s the latest advice on alternative travel
Transport for West Midlands has announced major disruption to train travel today (Saturday) as all rail lines between Sandwell & Dudley and Birmingham New Street are closed.
The reason for the disruption is in order for engineering work to take place.
Here are the list of train services disrupted:
Avanti West Coast:
Services between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton will be retimed and diverted via Bescot Stadium.
Some services between Wolverhampton and Liverpool Lime Street / Manchester Piccadilly may be cancelled.
Rail replacement buses will operate between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton.
CrossCountry:
No CrossCountry trains will call at Wolverhampton.
You can use your ticket at no extra cost on alternative rail services between Birmingham New Street and Stafford.
London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway:
Train services between Birmingham New Street and Liverpool Lime Street will run to an amended timetable at a reduced level of frequency and will not call at Smethwick Galton Bridge.
Trains between Walsall and Wolverhampton will run between Walsall and Birmingham New Street only.
Train services between Birmingham New Street and Shrewsbury will run between Tipton and Shrewsbury only (to an amended timetable at a reduced level of frequency) and will call additionally at Coseley.
Rail replacement buses will operate between:
Birmingham New Street and Tipton also calling at Smethwick Rolfe Street, Smethwick Galton Bridge, Sandwell & Dudley and Dudley Port
Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton
Transport for Wales:
No Transport for Wales services will operate between Birmingham International / Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton.
