Walsall Council is seeking views on much-needed improvements to a junction in Rushall.

The proposed works will see changes to the busy network where Lichfield Road, Station Road, Daw End Lane and Pelsall Lane meet.

As previously reported by the Local Democracy Reporting Service, West Midlands Police attended over 30 incidents in the area, known locally as the McDonald’s junction, between 2021 and 2024.

In October 2024, three Rushall councillors called for action to be taken at the ‘horrendous’ pinch point.

Councillors Vera Waters, Lorna Rattigan and Jade Chapman reported congestion, confusing lanes and drivers jumping the red lights.

In the same month, local resident Michelle Brookes was hospitalised with broken bones after her car was written off in a nasty crash at the junction.

The 56-year-old also called for action to address the issues, including red light cameras.

Although funding has not yet been confirmed, Walsall Council hopes to secure investment to deliver the proposals.

Walsall Council has published a preferred design for the future junction, which includes new crossings, signage and traffic signals.

Full details can be viewed online and paper copies are available from the Manor Farm Community Association.

A public drop-in event will be held on March 12, from 2-7pm, at the former Rushall Library.

Councillor Andrew, deputy leader of Walsall Council said: “Rushall Junction is a key route for many people travelling through and around our borough, and we want to make sure any improvements reflect the needs of those who use it every day.

“This consultation is an important opportunity for residents, businesses and road users to help shape a scheme that improves safety, accessibility and the local environment. I would encourage everyone to take part and have their say.”

The consultation closes at 11:59pm on Friday 20 March 2026.
