At 6.47am on Wednesday, March 4 National Highways West Midlands confirmed that lanes one, two and three were closed between junction 14 at Stafford and junction 15 at Stoke on Trent.

The cause was revealed to be a heavy goods vehicle spilling its load of offal across the carriageway.
