'Plan ahead': West Midlands Metro users warned of service disruption due to Wednesbury works

Transport for West Midlands has warned of upcoming essential track and bridge works on the West Midlands Metro that are due to start next week.

Transport for West Midlands has warned of service disruptions due to upcoming repair works between Wednesbury Great Western Street and Edgbaston Village that are due to start next week. 

The track and bridge works will begin from 8.15pm on February 16, and will continue until the end of service on Wednesday, February 18.

During the period of the works, no trams will operate between Wednesbury and Edgbaston Village, with ticket acceptance for alternative services in place. 

A Transport for West Midlands spokesperson said: "Upcoming essential West Midlands Metro works.

"From 8.15pm on Monday, February 16, to the end of service on Wednesday, February 18. 

"No trams will operate between Wednesbury and Edgbaston Village. Ticket acceptance in place."

Services will return to regular service on Thursday, February 19, with metro tickets being accepted on the National Express bus services 79, 74, and all services between Colmore Row and Edgbaston Village.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Metro said: "We are sorry for any inconvenience that these changes to service may cause and appreciate your patience while these essential works are taking place. 

"This is another important milestone as we prepare to connect more communities across the region in the future."
