Rail travellers face delays after power line failure near Lichfield
Rail passengers hoping to travel to or from Lichfield have faced disruption after an overhead line equipment failure blocked a main line.
National Rail issued a message on Sunday (January 11) to inform passengers that due to the issue in the Blake Street area, trains running between Redditch and Lichfield Trent Valley were unable to run, with services only able to operate between Redditch and Birmingham New Street.
It also said that the disruption was expected to last until the end of the day and rail replacement transport would be in place, with tickets being accepted on other services.
A spokesman for National Rail said: "Failure of the overhead line equipment in the Blake Street area means that all lines are blocked.
"As a result, trains running between Redditch and Lichfield Trent Valley will be revised, operating between Redditch and Birmingham New Street only.
"Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
"To help you get to your destination, rail replacement transport has been confirmed to run between Redditch and Longbridge via Bromsgrove in both directions and between Sutton Coldfield and Lichfield Trent Valley via Lichfield City in both directions.
"You can use your ticket at no extra cost on National Express West Midlands services between Longbridge and Sutton Coldfield via Birmingham New Street."
