West Midlands Railway Service are experiencing 'significant negative impact' to infrastructure across their network as Storm Goretti hits the region.

In an update posted on X the service revealed there has already been damage caused to their systems across the West Midlands by the heavy snow and winds.

The issues include a points failure in the Wolverhampton area, overhead line troubles between Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury and multiple points failures along the ironically-named Snow Hill lane.

The service say they are also unable to provide rail-replacement buses.

With the storm set to hit the region throughout the night more issues for West Midlands Rail are expected, along with other services in the region.

Anyone planning to travel by train is advised to plan well in advance of their journey and keep up to date with all changes to services in the region.
