The latest update is the lanes are now open but their remains five miles of congestion and a 50 minute delay from junction four. Nobody was injured in the collision

The region has seen difficult driving conditions all day, with snow and ice causing problems for motorists.

On the M6 all lanes are now open on the southbound carriageway between junction 15 for Stoke On Trent and 14 for Stafford, due to an oil spillage and an earlier broken down HGV.

National Highways: West Midlands says there are still some  delays as traffic officers and specialist contractors work to treat the spillage and re-open the lanes.

The HGV has also been recovered from the scene.
