Delays for travellers on M6 after lorry collision near Birmingham sees lane closed
A lorry collision on the M6 left motorists facing delays after a lane was closed.
The collision happened on the M6 southbound at around 9.07am near junction 6 for the A38M Aston Expressway and saw a lane closed, with traffic seen backing up as far back as the M5 entrance at junction 8 and up to 45 minutes delay.
A spokesman for National Highways West Midlands said: "On the M6 southbound within junction 6 for the A38M Aston Expressway, one lane is closed due to a collision involving a lorry.
"There are delays of 45 minutes on the approach and six miles congestion back to the M5 junction at junction 8 for Tame Bridge."
National Highways West Midlands later confirmed that the lorry had been recovered and the motorway back open at 11.03am, with residual delays and congestion on the road as traffic cleared.
A spokesman for National Highways West Midlands said: "All lanes are now open on the M6 southbound within within junction 6 for the A38M Aston Expressway.
"The earlier collision involving a lorry has now been cleared.
"Delays of 25 minutes remain on the approach and four miles of congestion, back to junction 7 for Great Barr.
