'Our fire engines have to mount the kerbs to get past' - Firefighter lays bare Willenhall traffic worries at meeting
Emergency services personnel were among those in attendance at a public meeting in Willenhall to discuss the traffic issues on their streets.
Dozens of Willenhall residents met at the Holy Trinity Church on Monday night (July 21) to discuss their ongoing issues with the courier group DX and its Ashmore Lake depot.
The row between the residents and DX was brought to light when a video emerged online showing more than 16 of the company's lorries sitting stationary on Sandbeds Road and Clarkes Lane, waiting to get into their depot on Ashmore Lake Way.
Also at the meeting were Willenhall councillors Amandeep Garcha, Poonam Gill and Josh Whitehouse, Graham Wallace from Walsall Council's traffic management team and representatives from West Midlands Police and the West Midlands Fire Service.
'We have to mount the kerb'

One attendee was West Midlands Fire Service crew commander Matt Warrilow, who raised issues that his team have encountered navigating the traffic-heavy road from their Clarkes Lane fire station.
"It's dangerous - when the blue lights come on, all we think about is getting to the incident as quickly as possible", he said. "Ashmore Lake Way is a key area for us. It's how we get to Fallings Park.
