The camera, in Darlington Street, brings the number of bus lane cameras in the city up to 10, and another two are due to be set up in the city later this month.

The cameras were announced at the last full city council meeting in December, with the other two set to be built in Hall Street, Bilston and Wednesfield High Street.

Drivers caught will face a £60 penalty, reduced to £30 if paid within 14 days.

St Peter's councillor Tersaim Singh, whose ward covers Darlington Street, backs the cameras.

He said: "People who get caught by the camera only have themselves to blame."
