The 8.14am service to Grand Central was cancelled on Monday.

The cancellation was made due to issues with staffing.

The service did not return to normal until 9.44am.

Tweeting about the issue, Midland Metro said: "Please be advised due to staff availability the 08:14 to Grand Central will not be in service this morning.

"The tram will resume service towards Birmingham from Wednesbury Parkway at 09:44. We apologise for the inconvenience."

Concerned passengers took to social media after the announcement. Lee Daniels said: "There's no trams to Brum until 9:44??"

Midland Metro responded by saying: "Just the one set Lee, all other trams will run as normal."

The news comes as work began on Monday to extend the Midland Metro tram line in Wolverhampton.

When complete, the £15 million new line along Pipers Row and Railway Drive will link Wolverhampton St George's stop with the railway station.
