Train chaos between Wolverhampton and Birmingham after overhead power line damage
Train passengers and commuters are facing disruption today after damage to overhead cables between Wolverhampton and Birmingham.
National Rail said damage had been caused to overhead electric wires near Smethwick Galton Bridge at around 12pm.
Trains through the station including those from Wolverhampton and Birmingham are affected by the chaos for the rest of today.
Problems had been further compounded by a trespasser earlier on the line causing disruption.
Delays will continue throughout the afternoon, say National Rail.
Commuters are warned that all local services are affected.
Arriva Trains Wales trains will start and terminate at Wolverhampton.
Smethwick Galton Bridge, Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International will not be served.
Virgin Trains has also tweeted about the disruption.
Services running between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street were being diverted via Bescot Stadium.
Tickets are being accepted on London Midland and Cross Country trains between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street.
Passengers are also advised to use tickets on bus and Midland Metro services.
