Midland Metro services hit as car gets stuck on tram line
Travellers faced delays at Snow Hill Metro Station as a car got stuck on the line today.
The car became trapped on the line at around 10.15am on Sunday and it took three hours to remove.
The car had travelled around 100 metres down the line and trams travelling to and from Birmingham and Wolverhampton had to terminate at St Paul's while crews were at work to clear it.
West Midlands Fire Service confirmed that it was called by British Transport Police to help remove the car, which was wedged along the line.
The British Transport Police were unable to remove the car using their winch, which was not long enough, so technical rescue fire crews supplied their winches and jack.
The car was removed by 1pm and normal services resumed along the line.
A 33-year-old man from Telford had been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.
