Taxi firm looking to take on 100 drivers ahead of Christmas rush
A West Midlands taxi firm is taking on 100 new drivers in time for Christmas.
Go Carz has launched a recruitment drive in Walsall, following an increase in business.
The company became the largest private hire firm in the town earlier this year when it took over rival company A1 City Cars along with its fleet of 25 vehicles, with owner-drivers transferring to the firm.
It has now announced its latest recruitment drive to take on more drivers to fill the growing demand in the area.
Walsall branch manager, Shazad Hussain, said: "We are committed to ensuring the highest level of quality service to our loyal customers and, with that in mind, need to launch an appeal to attract more drivers in the Walsall area.
"We became the largest private hire firm in the area after our merger earlier in the year and that came after only one year of operations there.
"Clearly there is more scope to expand and we need to make sure we have enough vehicles on the road to cover the number of calls we are getting. The build-up to Christmas is always hectic and we need to ensure we are ready to meet demand.
"We need 100 new drivers on the road operating in the Walsall area before Christmas.
"Go Carz is committed to excellence and most of our drivers have now passed their NVQ qualification in Road Passenger Vehicle Training.
"This is not a council requirement but something we feel our drivers and customers will benefit from.
"Obviously any drivers we take on through this recruitment drive will have the opportunity to go through the NVQ."
He added: "All our drivers have good local knowledge and are committed to the highest possible quality of service. It is important that we have enough cars on the road, particularly during this busy period, so we can maintain the level of service we and our customers value so highly and keep waiting times to an absolute minimum."
A recruitment event for those interested in signing up, or finding out more about becoming a taxi driver, will be held at the Holiday Inn Express, in Walsall, on October 31.
