M6 traffic chaos as two crashes cause tailbacks

Two crashes on the M6 - including one in which a car overturned - caused chaos today with drivers facing long tailbacks.

A two-car smash near Junction 14 for Stafford North blocked the southbound carriageway for about an hour from 4.50am.

A car had overturned and a woman in the vehicle was taken to hospital suffering back pain, although her injuries were not thought to be serious.

Traffic was heavy along the route for more than an hour after all lanes were reopened.

Two lanes on the southbound carriageway were also blocked between junction 10A for the M54 and junction 10 for Walsall from about 7.30am after two cars collided. Debris was strewn across the lanes, causing further problems for motorists.

The scene was cleared by about 8.30am but drivers were caught in long delays. No one was injured.
