Chemical spill causes delays on motorways in the Black Country
Motorists in the Black Country faced long delays today after a lorry leaked chemicals onto the M5 southbound carriageway.

Highways officers closed the slip road from M6 junction eight onto the M5 towards junction one at West Bromwich from 2.50pm to recover the lorry.
They initially had closed lane one at 11am after the leak was spotted. Firefighters managed to clear up the spill but then decided to remove the vehicle before rush hour began.
They had to remove the barrels of the chemical one by one, and the recover the lorry.
Traffic was backed up to junction 10 of the M6 at Walsall due to the closure.
