The 74A service, which runs between Cannock, Huntington, Brocton, Weeping Cross and Stafford will from Monday depart three-times an hour.

Currently services 74 and 75 provide two buses each hour. The new 74A service will run from Monday through to Saturday.

Inbound buses to Stafford town centre on service 74A will run along Bridge Street, South Walls and Eastgate Street between The Green and Gaol Square.

Outbound buses departing from Gaol Square will run along Chell Road, Earl Street, Water Street, Mill Bank, Bridge Street and Lichfield Road towards Cannock.

Cannock Chase council leader, George Adamson said it was important to keep the links between the two towns and would make it easier for people going to Stafford Hospital for appointments.

Earlier this month the Midland bus company released details of its latest price review. It has increased 10 of its 13 adult single fares, with the £2.80 fare increasing by 20p to £2.

Children's single tickets will see rises of 5p, 10p and 15p.

Arriva took over the red-liveried Midland bus company a few months ago. Also changing will be the service 68 running between Cannock and Wolverhampton. The company said the changes have been made following feedback from customers. They will also come into play from Monday.

Service 68 will no longer run along Old Hall Lane and Wardles Lane in Great Wyrley but will instead run along Station Road, A34, Walsall Road and Hilton Lane between Cheslyn Hay, Great Wyrley and Landywood.

Service 68 will also omit Long Knowle Estate running instead along High Hill, Essington Road, A462, New Invention and Lichfield Road, A4124 between Essington and Wednesfield. Keith Myatt of Arriva Midlands said: "It will make travelling by bus even more popular."
